Choosing the Right Lip Filler for You

Choosing the Right Lip Filler for You

From desiring a more youthful look in photos to feeling as though you have a sexier, more kissable pout, there are many reasons dermal fillers for your lips are popular. Whether your lips are thinner than you would like due to genetic factors, from habits such as smoking, or as a natural byproduct of the aging process, lip fillers can help.

At Anushka Med Spa, Dr. Bonnie K. Marting, aka “Dr. Bonnie,” and her expert aesthetic team provides lip fillers for as subtle or dramatic results as you desire. Read on to learn more about lip fillers, including which type may be ideal for you.

How lip fillers work

Lip fillers are made of hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance that your body produces and that makes your lips look fuller and moisturized. Once injected into your lips at strategic places, the HA solution instantly adds restored volume or plumpness.

Common concerns lip fillers can address include:

Treatments are short enough to fit within a lunch break and you’ll walk away with fuller lips, no downtime for recovery required, however some swelling is likely for 12-36 hours.

Choosing your ideal filler

Dr. Bonnie and her team can recommend your ideal lip filler product, based on your desired goals and the current state of your lips. Our preferred brands include the Restylane and Juvéderm collections, which provide superior results and contain lidocaine, an anesthetic that can minimize any discomfort during your treatment.

If you’re seeking especially natural-looking lips changes, we may recommend Restylane Silk or Juvéderm Volbella, which are thinner than other products. These products can also be used to correct tiny wrinkles surrounding your mouth, also known as “smoker’s lines.”

For more noticeable plumpness in your lips, we may recommend Juvederm XC, which is destined for dramatic results. Thicker fillers, Juvéderm Plus, and Restylane Kysse are known for providing a delicate effect. Kysse is also designed to allow you to maintain flexibility for your full range of facial expressions.

Lip fillers also last for varying amounts, typically from six months to twelve months. These results may vary by brand, filler type, and the way your body processes and reacts to fillers. Both Juvéderm and Restylane provide fillers that may last up to 12 months with occasional touch-ups.
